• Established a relationship with newly elected Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, better positioning Texas PTA to participate in the development and implementation of Texas' new School Nutrition policy , a critical component of our efforts to address obesity and encourage healthy lifestyles

• Achieved passage of legislation requiring at least 30 minutes of vigorous physical activity a day for grade school students, and for students in grades 6-8 thirty minutes a day 4 out of 6 semesters beginning in '08-‘09, to combat childhood obesity and encourage healthy lifestyles
