Texas PTA responds to Americans For Prosperity - Texas PTA would like to correct Americans For Prosperity's misunderstanding of our position on raising taxes to fund public education. Texas PTA's message is very clear...our members are in support of increasing taxes on tobacco and alcohol, because such an increase will not only fund education, but decrease the cost of healthcare, which is rising at an astronomical pace. Texas PTA has always said "use a portion of the Rainy Day Fund" because it is apparent there are other needs in the state. There has never been an intent to "raid" the RDF.
