Safe Schools

Learn about the Texas State School Safety Center and its role in the TEA requirements for each campus to adopt and implement an emergency operations plan (EOP.) During this sixteen-minute video, an overview of school safety requirements is provided by Jill Tate from the Texas School Safety Center. Help to educate your families with more information on the different types of responses: HOLD, SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE, and SHELTER and how important they are.

Jill Tate was appointed by Gov. Abbott to serve on the Texas State School Safety Board of directors in 2017 as the Texas PTA representative and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the board. Since her appointment, she has worked on school safety issues in Texas with the Governor’s office, the Texas Legislature, and the Texas School Safety Center. She has trained with the I Love You Guys Foundation founder on the Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method in addition to training on several school safety issues including Behavioral Threat Assessment, Human Trafficking, Digital Threat Assessment, and Emergency Management Training.  She is a member of several PTAs in the Grapevine Colleyville School District and is a Friend of Children Award Winner.
